Renee Vaught

March 13, 2024 – Moberly School District will welcome Mrs. Renee Vaught to Gratz Brown Elementary School’s administrative team on August 1, 2024. Mrs. Vaught currently serves as a kindergarten teacher for Columbia Public Schools, and she will transition back into administration at GBE for the 2024-2025 school year.

Dr. Oligschlaeger reflected on Mrs. Vaught’s move to Moberly School District. “Mrs. Vaught comes to us with over ten years of administrative experience and 19 years in education. During the interview process, the team was able to hear about her past leadership experiences and how she communicates with families and staff. I am so excited for Mrs. Martin and Mrs. Vaught as they create a vision together to support all of the students, staff, and families of Gratz Brown Elementary!”

Mrs. Vaught earned her undergraduate degree in elementary education in 2000 from the University of Central Missouri with a minor in early childhood education. She completed her master’s degree in 2010 from William Woods University, and she earned her specialist in 2018 from the University of Central Missouri. Mrs. Vaught began her career in education in 2000 as a kindergarten and first grade teacher. In 2010, Mrs. Vaught transitioned into her position as an early childhood director in Marshall, Missouri, and in 2020, she became the primary school principal in the same district.

Mrs. Vaught and her husband made a move to North Carolina, and they are happy to be back in Missouri in the Columbia area. “I feel honored to have the opportunity to work with Mrs. Martin and the staff at Gratz Brown Elementary. I look forward to building relationships, collaborating with students, families, and staff to build a positive learning environment,” says Mrs. Vaught.  Mrs. Vaught and her husband, Derek, are parents to Brooklyn, age 29, who lives in Louisville, KY, Kortnee, age 26, who is a zookeeper in Pensacola, FL, and Sydney, age 23, who teaches first grade in Sweet Springs, MO. Mrs. Vaught enjoys hiking, watching her nieces and nephews in sports, vacationing at the beach, and spending time with her daughters as often as she can.

Moberly School District had several strong candidates to consider. The district sought a candidate with experience, appropriately matched credentials, and just the right personality to fit with the team at Gratz Brown Elementary. We believe we have found that in Mrs. Vaught, and we are pleased to introduce Mrs. Vaught to the Spartan community!
