Damon Wells

Moberly, MO – June 11, 2024 – A new assistant principal, Mr. Damon Wells, will be starting August 1, 2024, at Moberly High School. 

Mr. Wells comes to Moberly from the Jefferson City School District. He has sixteen years of experience as an assistant principal, he served as an Athletic Director for six years, and he was a head football coach for eighteen years.  His professional career spans Florida, Colorado, and Missouri.

Mr. Wells grew up in Fort Myers, Florida, and he graduated from Florida State University. As an administrator, he organized and led the effort to become an International Baccalaureate School, created initiatives that reduced the number of students failing a course by half, and worked with the “I Love U Guys Foundation” to adopt the Standard Response Protocol. He has been named Coach of the Year nine times. Mr. Wells was honored by the Denver Broncos as Coach of the Week twice, and he led teams to four state championship games. 

Mr. Wells is married to Amanda Wells. They have two children – Sydney, who is 25 years old and lives in Dallas, Texas, and Hayden who just finished his sophomore year at the University of Missouri in Columbia. The family has a dog named Jack. 

Superintendent Cristina Wright added, “Mr. Wells’ extensive experience and dedication as a secondary administrator will contribute to the safe, collaborative, and supportive culture at Moberly High School. We believe Mr. Wells’ open communication style will be an asset among students, parents, staff, and community members.”
