This afternoon there was an incident at South Park Elementary involving a telephone scam in which a caller issues a verbal threat if the recipient of the call does not respond by sending bitcoin through the internet. Thanks to the quick response of our office staff, local law enforcement was notified, the incoming call was verified NOT to be local, and police remain at the elementary school out of abundance of caution. This phone scam event has been duplicated at other schools nationwide. If you receive a "swatting call" personally, call 911, and write down the number, if possible. Safety and security of our students and staff are our top priorities, and we thank our families and local law enforcement for their support.
